Apex Magazine is a magazine of dark speculative fiction, publishing short stories that are strange, surreal, shocking, and beautiful. Apex has been around for nearly twenty years and returned in 2021 from a brief hiatus to continue promoting dark and diverse work.

They’re raising funds to pay their authors, artists, and staff, keep up with general operating expenses, and work to pay off debt incurred to cover expenses. If they’re going to keep Apex going, they need your help.

Since 2004 the magazine’s parent, Apex Publishing, has published rising stars in speculative fiction like Brian Keene, Maurice Broaddus, Kristi DeMeester, Michael Wehunt, Damien Angelica Walters, E. Catherine Tobler, Nick Mamatas, Jennifer Pelland, Lavie Tidhar, Chesya Burke, Chris Bucholz, and many, many more.

Awards include: the Hugo Award, the Nebula Award, the Stoker Award, the World Fantasy Award, among others.
